Building a home or renovating with energy efficiency in mind will keep your family comfortable throughout the year while cutting hundred of dollars off your energy bills.

With simple design features, your home may become up to 5 degrees warmer in winter and 10 degrees cooler in summer.

Similar to the rating system for household appliances, a House Energy Rating rates the efficiency of a house on a scale of 0 to 5 stars. The more stars, the more energy smart the design. A 5 star energy smart home will save around 30% of the energy used in the average new home. Over the period of an average home loan this could amount to as much as $5,000 and save around 30 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.

Here's how it goes:

1. Initial Rating - Mr Solar does an individual assessment of the house and provides recommendations to achieve a desired energy rating.
2. Client Consultation - Mr Solar discusses with the client possible ways to achieve the desired rating. Once proper measures are agreed in writing, Mr Solar commences work.
3. Forward New Rating - Once the work is complete, Mr Solar forwards a new rating to the ratings company.
4. Plan Application Approval - When FirstRate receives the new rating, Mr Solar can then issue you with a new House Energy Rating Certificate
